Director's Statement:

"Bayrak" is a film inspired by a true story, centered around the theme of visibility. As a woman living alone, even stepping out of a private space can sometimes feel like a struggle. A bra, accidentally falling into a public space in the middle of the night, can suddenly become an object that must be quietly erased, treated almost like a piece of evidence to be disposed of as soon as possible.

The driving question behind this project was: How important is it to retrieve a bra dangling like a flag of womanhood on a neighbor's balcony? When I dropped it, it felt crucial to me. Experiences like this create a reflex in me—one of self-defense, of putting up a guard. I believe this feeling manifests physically as well, in the act of closing off or making oneself less visible.

While writing Eylem, I drew from these personal experiences, exploring the extremes of visibility and invisibility. I wanted to capture the strangeness of this feeling and express it through comedy.
